Handcraft is home to more than 129 independent Danish artisans. Ceramicists, jewelers, textile artists, glassblowers, leatherworkers, woodworkers — each one here because their work is good enough to stand on its own. Nothing is mass produced, and every name attached to every object is real.

Who makes the objects on Handcraft?

The range of makers on Handcraft reflects the full breadth of Danish craft tradition:
  • Ceramicists with studios on Bornholm, wheel-throwing stoneware and hand-glazing tableware in small batches
  • Jewelers working out of Copenhagen basements and studios, crafting rings, necklaces, and earrings from recycled silver and gold
  • Textile artists from Jutland towns most people have never heard of, weaving and dyeing by hand
  • Woodworkers with decades of experience, building furniture that lasts generations
  • Weavers who started recently and bring a fresh eye to traditional techniques
  • Glassblowers creating one-of-a-kind objects in vibrant colors, no two pieces exactly alike

How artisans are selected

Every maker on Handcraft is personally vetted before their work appears on the platform. There are no automatic listings, no self-serve storefronts open to anyone with a product to sell. The work must be genuinely handmade — not assembled, not printed, not manufactured at scale — and it must be of sufficient quality to stand on its own without editorial padding.

The makers we celebrate

A few of the artisans you will find on Handcraft: Lars Rank Keramik — Lars Rank crafts every piece by hand at his workshop and gallery “Made Here” on Wildersgade in Christianshavn, Copenhagen. His wheel-thrown stoneware tableware is built from beige clay with dark chamotte and lava elements, available in six glazed colors from ocean blue to dark green. No two pieces are identical. Helena Rår — Helena Roelsgaard Andersen handcrafts every piece herself at her workshop in Herlufmagle, working exclusively with recycled sterling silver and 14kt gold. Her minimal, sculptural rings and jewelry are built around emotional concepts: togetherness, silence, movement, eternity. Helle Mardahl — Helle Mardahl creates mouth-blown glass tableware and objects from her studio in Copenhagen. Her Bon Bon collection plays with contrasts: glossy yet fragile, playful yet refined. Every piece is made by hand in vibrant candy colors, so no two are exactly alike. Silleknotte — Iben Friis Alexandersen works exclusively with vegetable-tanned harness leather sourced from European tanneries. Every cut, stitch, and edge finish is done by hand using traditional leatherworking tools, producing functional bags, accessories, and everyday objects that develop a rich patina with use. Beyond these makers, you will find ceramics, jewelry, clothing, bags, home objects, and art from independent artisans across Denmark — all in one place.
“We do not add padding. We do not rewrite their stories in marketing language. We just make sure they are findable, and that the transaction is fair.”
