Whether you are new to Handcraft or have a specific question about a custom order, this page covers the most common things customers ask — about the products, the makers, the custom jewelry process, and how to get in touch.

About the products

Yes. Every object is made by an individual artisan. Nothing on Handcraft is mass-produced, assembled at scale, or manufactured in a factory. A person made it — at a bench, a wheel, or a kiln — and that person’s name is on it.
Handcraft lists 129+ independent Danish makers, including ceramicists, jewelers, textile artists, leatherworkers, glassblowers, woodworkers, and more. Each artisan is personally vetted before being listed. The work must be genuinely handmade and of sufficient quality to stand on its own.
Handcraft is the marketplace. You buy through us, and we make sure the transaction is fair to both you and the maker. This gives you a single, trusted place to purchase and ensures artisans are paid properly for their work.

Custom jewelry

Use our AI design studio to describe or sketch your vision. Our goldsmiths review every submission and craft approved pieces entirely by hand. For full details on the process, see Custom Jewelry.
Less than 1% of designs are declined. If yours is one of them, you receive an immediate full refund. Your payment is never at risk.
Yes. Once your piece is finished, you receive a detailed video showing the completed item. You can approve it via the video or, if you prefer, visit our Copenhagen workshop to see it in person before it ships.
All metals are gold or silver, sourced from European suppliers — fully traceable and conflict-free. Lab diamonds come from Belgium and are 100% carbon neutral. All natural gemstones are ethically sourced. No exceptions.

Ordering and shipping

Timelines vary depending on the piece. Ready-made objects ship from studio stock and move quickly. Custom pieces require additional crafting time before they can be dispatched. You receive updates at each stage of the process.
For ready-made pieces, contact us if there is an issue and we will work to resolve it. Custom pieces are made to your exact specification and generally cannot be returned unless they arrive defective. If your piece has a defect, get in touch and we will make it right.
Once your order is dispatched, you will receive shipping updates by email. For custom pieces, you will receive updates at each stage — confirmation, crafting, final approval, and dispatch.

Makers and sustainability

Every maker is reviewed before being listed on Handcraft. The work must be genuinely handmade and of sufficient quality to stand on its own. We do not add padding or compromise on this standard.
By design. Handmade objects built to last are the most practical form of sustainability — they do not need to be replaced. We use ethically sourced materials, work with local Danish craftspeople, and source all metals and gemstones from verified European suppliers. For custom jewelry, our made-to-order approach also minimises material waste.
